About Dafna

Hello, Iโ€™m Dafna Tzidkiyahu, a photographic artist and the creator of the Public Breastfeeding Chair.

The idea for the chair grew out of my personal experience as a breastfeeding mother. Again and again, I found myself in gardens, parks, and public places without seating that felt comfortable, stable, and suitable. Over time, I understood that this was a recurring need for many mothers, and that it also deserves a real place in public space.

From that place, I began developing the chair. It was important to me to create a solution that would feel comfortable and respectful, and that would also make room for real and simple needs within everyday life. I wanted to offer another way of thinking about the place of mothers in public space through a practical and tangible solution.

Alongside the chair, I have spent years working in photography and art. Over the years, I have also explored subjects connected to women, motherhood, and their place in public space. Among other projects, I presented my solo exhibition โ€œWomen in Judaismโ€ at the Knesset, and my photographs accompany the book โ€œShards of Miraclesโ€, published by Steimatzky.

Today, the chair has already reached the prototype stage, has been registered as a design in Israel and internationally, and is moving toward first placements in municipalities and public institutions. For me, this is a way to offer a simple and respectful response to an everyday need within public space.
